San Niu Beef Noodles

This restaurant has versatile side dishes. Cooked bitter lemon wasn’t good since it was too sweet. The taste was mismatched. Peanuts flavor was good and crunchy. Dry tofu was extraordinary and it is indeed delicious. I like the thin noodles as it’s presented. The dipping was also good. Good to have a try.

This seems to be a super popular beef noodle restaurant among locals and tourists. No frills. Very basic set up. Clean enough?? It seems deceptively small from the outside, but there is seating indoors on the ground floor and a second level. A walk indoors, past the ordering station and the food prep area is necessary to determine if there is available seating to meet your needs. When ordering, note that the portions are generous. A regular size is enough to share among two people when sides are also ordered. A large is quite big. More noodles and a bit more meat too. Beef in the noodles are very tender. Very flavorful broth. If the portions were not so large, I would enjoy it to the last drop.

This shop is a must visit and their food is a must try if you are In Kaoshiung. They have a guy who will let you know what's on the menu and what their best option is. Food was served in no time and surely a hearty meal. Will definitely come back to dine again.

Came here on a weekday, and after 5:30pm, this place gets packed with so many people and there are 2 floors, so this place is really popular. They had the different type of beef, and different type of noodles so you can choose to your preferences. Beef was tender and noodles were chewy, just the way I like it. Also had some side dishes, really good. Recommend to drop by if you are near Lotus Pond or visiting the Tiger and Dragon Pogodas.

A no-frills beef noodle restaurant that also offers a range of interesting side dish. Friendly staff, clean and spacious seating. The portion was so big, I feel like it can almost feed two. For soup base, you can choose either Stewed beef or Braised beef. I personally preferred the Stewed beef soup which tasted lighter and cleaner; but the Braised beef meat which was more seasoned and flavorful. Both were super tender though. For noodles, you can either choose between the traditional noodle or these chubby flour “knobs”. I never tried the “knobs” anywhere before but they surprisingly balanced really well with the beef soup.

A modest place but seems like a local favorite, basing on the number of casual diners at the time of our visit. Their beef noodles and beef rice toppings were delicious! Better than what we have tried at the night markets to be honest. Do know that one order of beef noodles is enough for two people, though. They had a wide variety of side dishes but we didn't get to order any since we weren't planning on having a heavy meal. Would've been nice to try those! The cashier couldn't speak much English but understood pretty well and was patient enough to explain, so communication wasn't much of a problem. Aside from that, they give English menus to foreigners. (just a side note, since it wasn't in the menu, but you can choose the size of the noodles for the order. You can have either thin, medium or thick sized noodles. We chose the medium sized one.)

Great beef noodles near the pagodas. You should order red stewed beef noodles. They have some side dishes too. There was a staff who can speak English well and he's very helpful. Noodles tastes yummy and we have a lot of meat.
